This ancient Mediterranean-style jewel, surrounded by cobbled streets and buildings of coral stone and terracotta blocks, is also known as the "City of Artists" as on more than one occasion, served as a source of inspiration for several film directors. Other of the most eye-catching feature in Altos de Chavon is its open-air amphitheater, inaugurated by Frank Sinatra in 1982.
